Maintenance the Ring Main Unit

The Ring main unit :

We all see and hear about (IP), which is an abbreviation for (infiltration protection), and each ring main unit has an IP

We find the office of IP n1 n2 :

• n1: It is the first number for dust
• n2: It is the second number for water

This means that the higher the number, the higher the protection rate for dust or water, and so the higher the number, the safer and more protected it is.

We will study because in the case of maintenance of the Ring main unit:

1. The first step is to open the ground knife first.
   
   
2. The electric knife is opened.
   
   
3. The ground knife is closed to leak any electricity to the ground to protect the maintenance engineer or technician.

After completing the maintenance process:

1. The ground knife is opened.
   
   
2. The electric knife is turned off.
